Make it Monday #2

This is my second attempt for the Make it Monday Challenge. Although this card is a necessity. I found out tonight that a friends of my mother has lost his daughter who is only a few years older than me. She has an 18 year old and an 8 year old. She died of a brain hemorrhage. The exact thing her aunt died of when she was a child.

So it was with a sad heart I made this card. I taught her daughter and to lose your mother at such a young age is hard. My thoughts go out to all of the family at this sad time.

I made this card as a variation on the last card. I decided to add an impressed layer onto a plain white card.

I like the look of the card as its more suitable for a younger woman.

Make it Monday Card #1

Before I start can I just apologise for the poor picture. It is on clear cardstock and it has not shown up very well. Anyone who has any suggestions on how to take a good pic of this I am grateful for any suggestions.

This was the first card I made after watching Dawn's video. I decided to use my Anniversary set which has a great sentiment which is totally appropriate.

Anyway I decided to use somewhat controversial colours for a sympathy card. In my families flower shop it was frowned upon to use red and white together as they signify blood and bandages. I decided I like the contrast of the two colours and with the added touch of spring moss I think this softens it enough that it is subtle enough.

40th Birthday Card

I made this card using some of my new PTI goodies. I love how simple this card was to make but it looks very nice.

I am not great at masculine cards but I am getting better.

Anyway this card has yet to be delivered but we had the night out for Neil(friend's hubby) yesterday. It was a fab night if not very tiring. Still catching up! :)

Anyway I hope you like the card.

Sundried Tomato Bread

This was the last thing I made for the party. I have a weakness for nice fresh bread. I think there is nothing better than fresh made bread with some bread and homemade jam - yum yum.

Anyway no jam here cause this was a savoury bread. This is fab with an Italian meal or it is delicious with red pepper soup. Such a winning combination.

I made the dough in the bread machine and then cooked it in the oven.

It worked out well and tasted nice although maybe a bit heavier than when it is done in the bread machine. SO this was definitely a lesson learnt!

Homemade Sausage Rolls

I had not idea that these were so easy to make.

Ingredients:

Sausages - halved

Ready rolled puff pastry

Egg

Its simply a case of covering the sausage with pastry stick a bit of egg wash on it. Then fling them in an over. Bingo - yummy sausage rolls.

Although I will use sausage meat next time and add some seasoning because I didn't like the texture of the skin of the sausage roll. You live and learn.

These were made for a Eurovision party I has last weekend. It was a great night with lots of chat and laughing. Mostly at Jedward on my part. Oh and alot of staring at the TV with my mouth open (no not at Blue!) but at Moldova OMG what on earth was that? It certainly was the weirdest thing I have EVER seen!!!

Homemade breadsticks

I made bread sticks for the first time. Admittedly I did make the dough in the bread maker but I did the rest by hand. The sticks came out rather dumpy but they were well received and were great with dips.

The twisted stick has pepper on top and the straight one has sea salt.

Very yummy.

Just ask if you want the recipe. Its really easy.

Second Sympathy Card

This is the card I made to be sent from our department. I used a similar colour palette as the first card but I do not personally like this card as much.

Hey ho yo can't love all your creations I guess!

Sympathy Card

I made this card for a friend from work whose dad died recently. This was made for someone else to give her. The next post will show the card I made for our department to send to her.

Her favourite colours are lilacs and purples so I made the card shades which tone with these colours. I am pleased with how this came out.

SCONE

I made scones tonight for the first time since high school. Mind you that was only a few years ago (ahem - I am blushing as I type this lol).

Anyway I got a recipe from the BBC website. Its actually a Paul Hollywood (great name) recipe. If you search on YouTube for Paul Hollywood scone recipe it should come up. If not if you put it in a search engine it definitely does.

Anyway this is a great recipe. Very easy to follow and great results. The only word of warning I will give you is that I did not use all of the milk. The first batch I did use all the milk but it was almost a batter lol so I added more flour. Second time I left out some milk. Either way both batches turned out great.

If you look closely at the last picture I think it looks like the scone is smiling! Maybe I am delirious but I think its kind of funny :D

Any questions let me know.
